Last night I was at my local grocery store looking at the August 2010 Motor Trend Magazine, and on page 63 I made an observation of one of the pictures showing a uniformed CHP Officer standing and looking at the cars that MT was testing, and he was wearing suede tan boots like the US Army wears. Do the CHP now allow those boot for use when in uniform?

I'll have to peek at it when I get home, but I'm thinking cold weather boots, or they're just dirty.

What was the article about? Maybe we can track down the picture in question on the MT website ....

Range/Weapons Officers are authorized to wear tan boots with tan BDU pants and red shirts while in the capacity of Range/weapons duties.

When I worked in the Central Valley farm country it was not uncommon for shoes and boots to get like that during a shift.

The air is so dry in that region that static electricity builds up and the fine dust particles stick to the black shoe polish. Very common in arid areas. If you look real close you will see that they are BLACK.

thats a great shot, thanks for finding it.
I saw an SLS on NB 5 on Sunday. Silver, with Keys plates. Pretty impressive car in person.
Haha...+1 for dirty. Putting together the fact that he's driving a Charger, is working a special detail like that and probably has 3 or 4 bars on his long sleeve shirt, he doesn't "need" to polish his boots anymore. :smile:

I read the thread title and got excited. I should have known better. Of course they wont let us wear nice desert Danners or other tan boots.
I hate my black boots, all it takes is one stop to get your boots a nice shade of grayish tan.
:doubt::sad:
Don't be sad....I liked the sunglasses so it was fitting for your post. :biggrin: We are all http://www.wimp.com/supercool here. Hah!

While I like the throw back gullwing. I think the SLR McClaren it replaces, is more of a looker.

I think the McClaren was going for something like $450,000 and the SLS is in the $185,000 range.

The Sorel rain boots they issued us are brown. Dare I try to wear them with tans one of these summer days?

Sorry I'm late in responding, but thanks for clarifying my post. Like Paul Harvey said "now you know the rest of the story" now I know the rest of the story.
