View Full Version : Forum Runner iPhone Client
I've added support for Forum Runner (http://www.forumrunner.net/) for the iPhone. Personally, I like it over Tapatalk (http://www.tapatalk.com/). It has a better interface, jumps to new messages, and has push notifications.
I'll have to check out the freebie version and see if it's worth popping for the full app. After using Tapatalk for a while, I'm not crazy about it.
I was never crazy about Tapatalk and now I find myself using Forumrunner at home when I have the laptop handy.... I like it.

I've got a blackberry, but sometimes I use my ipod touch at home to access forums. Honestly ..... I find it easier to just view the forums in "full" mode. The only thing that I've found to not work well, is the "drop down" menus at the top - search, quick links, etc, so maybe thats where a dedicated iphone software may help.
I downloaded the free version of Forum Runner and have been messing with it the past couple of days....MUCH better than Tapatalk. I wouldn't go so far as to use it at home when I have a 20" iMac sitting in front of me (even though iOS 4 allows you to connect a bluetooth keyboard to the iPhone!), but it's a very usable substitute on the iPhone when I'm away from the computer.
I've got a blackberry...
Off-topic, but unless you have a Storm, I always found web browsing on the Blackberry to be a supreme exercise in frustration. I've had two of them (8830 and 9630), and absolutely hated using them for the web.

I have a Tour currently. I've had a Storm (1st Generation) and an 8830 as well. The 8830's web browsing was terrible "emergency use only". Storm's was okay, but i got rid of the storm before they updated it. Rim has the 5.0 operating systems out right now, which are pretty good. I use the internet on my BB every now and then, but i'm never really that far away from a computer. I will say ... that when browsing the internet on my Ipod Touch, its easy to see why Apple sells so many iphones. Apple did an outstanding job with web browsing on the iphone.

I haven't upgraded my Tour to 5.0 yet, but can't imagine it's much of a difference as far as web browsing goes. There just isn't enough real estate on that screen, and zooming is a PITA. The iPhone isn't perfect, but it's the best "smart phone" I've used by a country mile. Blackberries just didn't do it for me. The Droid phones seem to have potential, but I like the iPhone enough that I don't have a burning urge to switch. If anything, I'll eventually upgrade to the iPhone 4.
I thought FR was pretty good. My first time using an iPhone to post but I got the hang of it last night on a Cozeep. Worked just like my computer, just smaller.
The only thing I or the phone messed up was the mutli-quote. I typed below one quote and then couldn't scroll down to the next one without exiting the type mode and then clicking below the next one. My impression it was the phones issue not FR's.

I'm posting from tapatalk right now. It's pretty good but I'll have to check out forumrunner.
Now supports basic moderation. Yay.

Updated forum runner app on iphone. Now won't work. Free version. Deleted and re loaded it. Still not working. Using old method via safari to access site. Any others same issue? Suggestions?
Dunno. Working for me. Paid version, though.
