I have a feeling this would be more of a question for the DMV, but it is somewhat related, so I figured I'd give it a shot.

I just purchased a vehicle I had been leasing, after the lease was over.

My registration was due (June), which I paid, got the stickers, etc. The registration has the old bank information on it.

Question: When the bank updates the title, do they notify the DMV? Will I get a NEW registration card automatically from the DMV with the updated information?

Thanks, in advance.

The bank will update the dmv with their information. You will more then likely not get a new copy unless you ask for one. The old bank info will not matter to anyone as long as the registration is paid and current with stickers.

Thank you, Sir.

Do you know if there is any way to follow up with the DMV to make sure they have the current information? I usually like to verify things on my own, so I don't find out about "mistakes" months down the road.

+1.

If you own the vehicle outright your pink slip may still have the dealer or bank listed as the lienholder. I suggest getting a new pink slip with no lienholder as this could cause problems with your insurance company should you have a total loss settlement.

Something to keep in mind is that the DMV moves very slowly. It can take several weeks for your information to be updated in their system. For example: If someone sells a car to another subject, a police officer can run the registration even 2 weeks after the transfer has been made, and it might not even show the release of liability, or pending master file record, let alone that it is owned by someone else. So with all that said, be patient. As long as your registration comes back current, you are ok.

On a similar question, my registration expires today. I had the smog check and mailed in the proper paperwork three weeks ago and still have not got my new stickers. Will I be getting pulled over?
