Well, the time has come. Im going into the Navy with a Master-At-Arms ( Navy Police ) /SEAL Challenge Contract. I should be getting out of the Navy by the time I am 21-22 as I do not plan to make it a career. Will these qualifications be enough or will I need some sort of degree? I know what the minimums are, but im very sure there the application process for the CHP will be very competitive. Thanks for any information.

I'm hoping to join up around Sept as a military policeman in the U.S Army. Military Policemen have to serve for five years.

You don't need a degree. The application process is competitive, but many people have made it through without a degree. Keep your nose clean and serve with honor and you'll be fine.

My brother just enlisted in the Navy, currently he is stationed in San Antonio Texas in Master At Arms training. He absolutely loves it! Good luck in the Navy, and good luck getting on the patrol.

What you did isnt really important...what is important is that you got an Honorable Discharge at the end.

Those of you going into the military, I salute you. It is an honorable thing that you do and it will benefit you when you apply to be officers on the California Highway Patrol.
A few quotes to ponder:
"People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf."
-George Orwell
"This is a war of the unknown warriors; but let all strive without failing in faith or in duty.........."
-Winston Churchill
"Remember the veterans on Memorial Day" "If you love your freedom, thank a Vet."

SR,
Getting out of the Navy at 21 or 22......Aren't you going in with the intentions of going to BUD/s and uuummmm...Graduating?
How can you complete your obligation ("IN THE HIGHLY UNLIKELY EVENT YOU GRADUATE FROM BUD/S") to the Teams if your going to be out by 21 or 22? Better check on your obliserv there SR.
Master at Arms = security, not police.
Wish you the best of luck at BUD/s dude......yo' going to need it. A little piece of advice from cacop....On the first day of indoc tell your proctor your REAL dream is to be an officer in the CHP...he'll make sure your phase instructors let you be the duty driver for X division.....lol
seriously though,
best of luck, enjoy the canoe club....

The MA/SEAL Challenge contract is an enlistment for 4 years. That would put me out at 21-22

Last time I checked the badge said U.S. Navy Police. Now, I understand that they also do anti-terrorism work and Force Protection, but they are still the Police Officers in the Navy.

Thanks, not too many people know about the proctors and the canoe club. What did you do in the Navy?
