I kind of already had a heads up on what my score was befor I got this official letter. I know you guys are really sketchy on what can and can not be said on here so i will tread lightly.
I got a score that is 5 points below what they projected would be the score that they would take to send people on. I notice in the letter is says you received a qualifying score of blah blah and have been put on an eligibility list. It also mentions you may be contacted in the coming months if you have been selected.
So, by the advice of a recruit officer I went ahead and submitted another application for this next batch.
Im curious though, realistically, how long does it take to hear back from the CHP if you are selected. Also, will they let you know if you are not selected?
How likely do you think it would be that I will be picked for this class?
Thanks for any info guys/girls. Hope I didn't say too much.

The QAP score is up to you if you want to post it, i got a 90. Are they still projecting an 85?
It varies on how long it takes for them to contact you.
Which class are you talking about? May? If so then no way that you could finish all of that in time
Good luck!!! A lot of people find it helpful to right down what they where asked after taking the QAP, so when you go again you can refresh yourself as to what they are going to ask

From personal experience and from what I have read here- 2 days to a year. Sounds like they are taking everything down to 85's right now. I knew one guy before the freeze when they were only taking 95's who had to test 3 times to get a 95. Then he ended up on the shelf during the feeze. He kept improving himself and last I heard had an academy date shortly after the end of the freeze.
For me it was 7 months with a 95. But things change. The process takes a long time even with a good score. They were throwing around the november/march academy to my group at the PAT. More like 2-3 classes later. I still have my oral psych and I'm good to get on the list.

I got my commitment to hire letter the same day I got my QAP score and I believe that most of the folks on here were the same or close. Last I heard 85's and up were getting job commitment disclosures and going to backgrounds, but that may have changed since the last cycle. DW would probably know for sure.
Don't sweat it if you scored too low on the first QAP, now you know what will be asked next time and you can better prepare. It took me three tries before I got it right. Just keep plugging away and stay committed to your goal and you will find yourself closer and closer until it is achieved.
Good luck,

Wow... what a long time. Worth the wait so im going to try till I get it right.
I got an 80 - They said they will probably be taking 85's and up. It won't do any harm to try again for a better score right? It would be nice if they would accept me on this round but I know what to do differently on the next one.

Thats encouraging. I had a feeling this might take a few gos before I understand what they're looking for and how to put my best foot forward.

I also recieved my QAP Letter today, 85 and a commitment to hire letter to proceed to backgrounds.
I wish you the best of luck MicahJames, dont give up.
Regarding the time-frame, it depends... Say we're currently taking 95's and up. You get a 95 -- you will be notified within days that you are moving on. If you get an 90, you may or may not move on. If later in the year, while your list is still good, we decide to take 90's and up, you would be notified.
We haven't taken 80's since the freeze and I'm not sure if we ever have in the history. I too would suggest reapplying.

I received mine the other day as well.....105
On my letter it said it wants my PHS done and turned in on 5-30...eeeck
No problem filling in the blocks, but I'm definitely going to have to contact my universities and see if they can rush those transcripts.
Hopefully it's not to much of a pain in the six

Nice job man and congatulations. I won't give up  I think they wanted me to have more volunteer work under my belt. I wish I would have said more about what I did to prepare for the CHP. When they asked that, I just said the usual, talked with officers, went on ride alongs, have been physically training, etc. But I could have elaborated more. Ugh... I'm upset I missed it by so little, but this should give me more of a kick in the butt to retry. Thanks for your feedback everyone.

What is the top possible score number?
What is the top possible score number?
110... 95 + 15 points as a disabled veteran.

WOW, I didn't realise that disabled vets got an extra 5! But have any been hired? wouldn't they get DQ'd on medical?
What sort of medical DQs happen, anyway? I mean, the majority (I hope) of us are exersizing our tails off; I'd think the applicant would know if there was a medical issue!

Micah, I think my first QAP score was 80. My second was 90 and was two years later. Look at it as practice. Good luck!

I'm not familiar with any specific cases, but I imagine it possible to go out with disabled status but still be functional as a police officer.

I am a disabled Vet and it depends what percentage the VA gives you...I was 20% disabled and got an extra 10 points...I got a 110 on the QAP... I also made it through everything, but decided to take myself out of the process after completing BGs because my daughter has problems and moving her across the country would make her regress I decided that I will be going through the process with the VA State Troopers. So, no the would not be DQed and if they were they can sue for the job if they passed the physical fitness test because that would be discrimination. So, to all in the process good luck and be safe out there!

I thought that the highest score you could get without veterans points was 95?

It seems that it's common for such large gaps in between retaking the QAP why is that?

There was a hiring freeze in-between.
