Santa Maria P.D. has a DARE Hummer. Started as about 5 or 6 retired military Hummers. All donated stuff and there it is...

YIKES! I'm thinking they don't drive it too much. Maybe for public affairs details? I can't imagine how they justified that one :

Hey another Autoblog reader! I comment on their site all the time.

When I saw that my thought was..."big texas"

I'd pick my Civic over that thing anyday, well no, I'd pick that, sell it, buy a civic and use the rest of the cash to pay for gas and car maintanence for the rest of my life

I'm jellous! I wish i had a hummer patrol vehicle. I could really use one here, with all the dirt roads, snow , and mud it be perfect! Susan the way i think they can justify it if they use it off road constantly. LASO has one they use for search and rescue. A civic never ( too tree huggerish for me), id love to have one personally too, its so obnoxius that it makes everyone mad. Id gladly payfor the gas, be confertable, haul the family, and explore the back woods. Thats just me though.

WOW, can't wait to see them chase somebody over some curbs and ruin those rims:badgrin:

West Covina FD has an H2(though it is stock, minus a red/white paint job) that i assume that a local dealershipd helped them out with, as i honestly see no reason for them to have it because they really don't have any areas that require that type of vehicle

LAPD has one as well but they only use it for recruitment seminars and what not.

I can just imagine how well that works

Guy goes to recruitment seminar looking around and see's the H2, he then goes well that finishes that I guess I am going to be an LAPD officer.

At least with the CHP they hook up a Porsche. It is fast and is something that the CHP could actually use, though sadly it will never happen, while the LAPD with an H2 just isn't needed.

LAPD actually has an H1... BIG difference. ;) And I've actually seen them use it on the beach in Venice.
