Is it better to eat before you P.T or after P.T?

I'm trying to get back on my fitness schedule and I need some opinions/advice.

Thanks.

Everything I have seen regarding food and working out says to eat either 1-2 hours before or after you do a rigorous workout.

What time of day are you talking about? If it is first thing in the morning, then have some OJ and go. If later in the day, make sure you have had plenty of time to digest any food or drinks you have had prior to starting. It's no fun getting a cramp or side stitch because you didn't wait long enough.

At the Academy, you PT early and then eat (at least when I went there a long, long time ago in a galaxy, I mean county, far, far away.....).

Good Luck

Just eat something light like a banana and grub after you're done working out.

always eat a banana! not because it's light, but because it's a great source of potassium and will keep cramping at bay! i always ate a bowl of special k after a good run.

I like having something in my body before I workout. Fruit, or some trail mix usually works well.

Up until this week (my work schedule has changed) I've been going to the gym at 0500 when I get off work and running in the afternoon before I go in to work. A granola bar and some gatorade works good for me. I don't usually eat until I'm done working out- if you push too far, you have less to throw up, and I remember hearing something about it being better because you burn stored fat instead of what you just ate (maybe total BS, but I'm no expert).....still hate running though....
