Hiya, I have two questions for you Chippes. What's with the weird light bar??

It looks so freaking ugly!! CHP cruisers look so much sexier with the federal vector lightbar.
Question number two: Is this the Chevy Impala? Since when did Chippes start using the newer generation Chevy Impala? Does anyone have better pics of it?

Thx.

The lettering on the doors of the Ford doesn't look right as well. And what's up with the plates?

The Crown Vic is those pictures is not an official CHP car, and the Impalas were used on a test basis. I don't think there are any left, but I could be wrong.

Ditto what Chipper said.
The Crown Vic looks like some foreign collector's car. The door lettering isn't right and the CHP has never used those type of push bumpers.....nor have we ever used that model of light bar, had lights/reflectors installed in the rear bumpers, or used numbering on the left rear of the car like that.

Bogus CHP black and white. On every level. We have hand-built pushbumpers (way better than the commercial on pictured). NOTHING about this car is authentic. Ane we have NO 'volunteer' cars. We don't have a senior volunteer program. Disregard these photos as completing bogus.

The Impala, is the one from Victorville I believe. They used to have a Retired senior volunteer program that had patrols. Regular vehicles, they just stuck that magnetic sticker on the side (and took the shotgun out). They don't patrol now from what I understand, just office work. El cajon had them to, but that's the only two areas I'm aware of.
They mostly stuck yellow tags on cars on patrol. They had a lot more volunteers in the office. There was a computer guru, several that helped with records, and one that even was a volunteer ASM assistant, with a jumpsuit and everything.

I stumbled upon that car while I was searching for new avatar. It's a rental car over here in the States, used for birthday parties and what not. It reminds me of a retired LA County Sheriffs car that someone owned up the street from me. It had all the original markings and even exempt plates, but the only flaw was that it had a Federal Signal (Vector) light bar, instead of the authentic Code 3. So, to make a long story short, he got caught driving it on the streets.
...El Cajon had them too, but that's the only two areas I'm aware of...
Many Areas statewide had SVP programs. Oceanside's is large and still quite active, and I believe several other Areas still have them.

There are still Senior Volunteers in the Bay Area and although I haven't seen a magnetic placard, they do have "VOLUNTEER" signs to go in the window. (Similar to the "OUT OF SERVICE" ones)
A few of the Areas have the magnetic door signs. It became quite the joke to slap them on one of your beat partners' cars at the beginning of shift before he went 10-8! After a few guys were 'victimized', 360-degree walkarounds of your car at beginning of shift became very much back in vogue.....the whole back lot looked like a bunch of dogs sniffing each others' butts!

How come the CHP only accepts senior volunteers??? I would love to do some volunteer work at my local office during the Summer.

If you look at the geography around the bogus CHP car and the side of the road it is parked at and the white angled lines in the roadway, I would say it is probably in the UK somewhere.

The Crown Vic definitely has european spec marker lights added to the car.

NorCalN00b why do you always ask "what do you "chippies" think about this or that?
