Something new here? Seems pretty cool. Is this something that is going to be implemented elsewhere?

It looked like they were the "in street" LEDs often used to mark cross walks, but were constantly on, white light.

I can't speak for the freeway itself, but I googled (not binged) and I found this.

Seems pretty cool, especially in those super dark, scary areas, (like 152 Pacheco Pass)

On the down side. I'm sure those lil buggers are not cheap.

Up until about the mid 1950s, center medians on surface street had low intensity flashing amber light implanted into the curb at the gore point so drivers would not drive over the raised median.

I looked around google a bit this morning .... here is an image from another forum of what i'm talking about. The interchange I traveled yesterday didn't have any red markers, just the "white" ones. It was also daytime, and they were perfectly visible. I bet they have a "low" setting for night time.

I seem to recall in Massachusetts the markers are reflective and actually work very well. Its either some sort of reflective film or some sort of paint. Either way I know that they are brighter than the ones on the local freeways.

I have serious doubts about those LEDs, I tend to think people would focus too much on them than on the road.

I worked Central for 5 years and am VERY familiar with that transition. Yes it is dangerous, yes something needs to be done about it, but this is NOT the right thing to do. The LED markers are so bright at night that it is distracting. It takes your attention away from the 35 mph warning signs and the curve ahead. Also a deuce is not going to see these lights and realize he needs to stay to one side or the other, he is going to follow them straight like a runway into the barrels and the k-rail. This is just my opinion of course, but both times I have gone through since they made the change I have not been impressed, and the second time I went through there was a car up on the k-rail just like before the lights!
