gotta wonder if this is really worth it or not.
About 5 years ago, I got about 20 semi loads of office desks, partitions, and related equipment from the state for zero dollars. Some of it had been recently sent to a refurbisher for new paint. I saw about a half million in taxpayer funds peed away because of some change the management made in color or design. There was some junk in there too, but it was mostly all pretty good stuff. AllSteel brand and with nice removable formica tops. They tried to sell it, and there was no interest, so I agreed to make it all go away for nothing. It was all packaged up on pallets all nice and neat in one big warehouse. The state bought all new stuff. I didn't see much difference between the two really. Except the color. I don't know if the state can manage surplus stuff or not. I think they don't appreciate the original costs

Hey, if you're lucky, you can get a sweet deal on one of our beat-to-absolute-snot former MDC laptops. It comes complete with scratches and scuffs over every surface, completely out of date hardware, unidentifiable sticky stuff in the keyboard, a dead battery, a loose hinge, a broken latch, a blank hard drive with not so much as an operating system, and NO CD DRIVE!!
But hey, for 40 bucks, who's complaining?

Where for 40? I want one, and I am not joking, I like collecting and tinkering with things and already have a few ToughBooks, but want an MDC. I already have a few lightbars just collecting dust but one day they maybe worth more then they are now. Actually one was going to go on my truck when I was a firefighter in Indiana then I got a good deal on one I really wanted so I bought that one. Now I am stuck with a whole lot of blue LEDs and lightbars that I can not even use now, but plan on making a display or something. And I would love to get a Vision with a Rangr head.

Wow... rein it in a bit there, buddy. There's nothing we have or do that's that cool! The MDC laptops are just regular old laptops- not Toughbooks or anything special at all. And when we offload them, the hard drives are wiped, so they're just old laptops with amnesia.
I didn't make it to the overcrowded garage sale today, so I didn't see exactly what they had, but I saw the news coverage with people cruising out with $20 HP tower PC's and some old Gateway and Toshiba laptops for under $40. And the people bidding auction-style on old base model sedans with 100,000-plus miles on them... amazing.

Can't wait to hear the first clame that someone's got an old EDD computer with someone else's "confidential information" on it! :hitwall:
So didn't this start on a furlough Friday? Who worked the sale? :noidea:
Anybody get anything good out of this?
