Well as the topic says i had my Oral Psych. today and i have to say that it was stressful. I don't want to say much as it would eliminate some of the ability of the oral, but i will say that it only took about 45min.
I think that part of the reason that it was stressful was the knowledge that some have been talking about that an above average number of people have been failing this. I guess i will see how it goes, but i feel good
Anybody know how long it might take to get the results?
You should hear in a couple of weeks... Maybe sooner. Maybe a week or two more. Unfortunately, this is the State of California.

I didn't know they took RAs on C Watch. I have done all of mine on B Watch. Good luck on the Psych.

Yahh, you can get a C, but it is not very easy to get. I have a little bit of help at the office, but i know that another guy had also done a C out of the same office. But as has also been discussed on this site before, some offices don't even like doing ride-alongs unless you are far along in the process. I guess it just depends.
It is going to be a LONG day for me though. I have school in the morning, work tell 9pm, and then rush over too the office so that i can spend the rest of the night on the ride-along. I know that i will be ok because it will be exciting, but that still makes for a long day

Of all the ride alongs I've done I've only been on C watch. On one of them my friend (the officer I ride along with) had to pull some overtime so it ended up being a partial B and C shift. It started out with tickets, but once the sun went down it was nothing but DUI's and tweakers running around. Like everything, it probably depends on the office, but seems to me that graveyards offer a lot more exciting/wierd things.....after all seems like most of the wierdos come out at night.....
So are you assigned to a 2 officer unit since it is C Watch (ie: you ride in the back)?

yep, my BI said that if I went on a C watch RA, I would have to sit in the back. Just think of all the looks you would get from people when you went on lunch and the officers let you out of the back of the car. granted, lunch would be at 2or3 in the morning

TheForce will you be riding for the whole shift? My B-watch ride along was supposed to last the whole shift but the Sgt. cut it to 4 hours.
At least I got to go on one and I'm sure the officer was ready to get rid of me by then.

I did a C watch RA on a Friday night. It was the most action I've ever seen with the CHP. Hope you catch a couple of deuces.

That's what I'm talking about! I've only been on four or five ride alongs with CHP (all on C watch), but each time there was at least one or two arrests....and all but one of the ride alongs were out of a smaller office. I see way more wierd stuff than the day guys do with my lame security job- the freaks come out at night! The sleeping schedule takes some getting used to, but it seems better than dealing with commuters all shift....

"The 'yard" (graveyard shift) is absolutely *THE* best shift on the job! You make far more arrests, handle fewer nickel-dime crashes and radio calls, and have a partner in the car to help you pass the time. It's also been my experience that graveyard shift usually is the "tightest" and has the most camaraderie. I guess some people can handle the sleep schedule and some just can't, but I've always LOVED being asleep while everybody else is sitting in commute traffic and working their 9-to-5 jobs. The only thing about the shift that can suck is court in the middle of the day - a couple days of spending all your sleep time in a trial can leave you SERIOUSLY cranky during shift at night! :biggrin:shock:ubt: It's also the next-best thing to day shift in terms of family life, especially if you have kids....you can see them off to school in the morning when you get home, and have a few hours in the evening to eat dinner and hang out with them before you go to work.
