anyone here use google earth? if not or if you've never heard of it, clear an hour or two from your schedule and go download it. i play around with it every now and then and was looking at some property on it tonight when it occurred to me to check out the academy. WAY cool! just type in the addy (3500 reed ave, west sac, ca). you can't miss it!

yep, very cool program. i started using it for a threat assessment/ terrorism (wow, that sounds bad) class back when it was still called keyhole. I've been able to look at just about every place I've gone to school or lived...very neat...

And I thought the LAPD stations had a lot of patrol vehicles sitting around.

LOL - - - not when you have ran the perimeter every morning!! I can make out every path and shrub from those pics!!

I think I can even make out the lung I puked up at the 4 mile point.

HA! i've only been up there twice and it was fun picking out what little i could recognize. i bet it'd be even better if i'd actually, you know, thrown up a lung or twelve on the premises.

Google Earth is so cool! I checked it out too, makakona. The EVOC course looks huge.

Another great program similar to Google Earth is "USA Photomaps" at http://www.jdmcox.com/. It's even more useful than Google Earth if you have/use a GPS - you can transfer tracks/waypoints to/from your GPS, view them overlaid on both satellite photos and topo maps, and a lot of other cool things.

PS - That Google Earth is AWESOME!!!
Especially how it "flies" across the country when you put in different addresses.... Hey, I'm simple...

Mac, that's awesome. One of my projects has been to archive Google Earth views of all major interchanges in my Area for reference... You saved me a lot of time. For things that do not need to be to scale, tracing over a satellite view works well in AutoCAD.
