Today 184 young cadets will graduate from the California Highway Patrol Academy in ceremonies marking their twenty-eight week struggle to become sworn members of the California Highway Patrol. Their class is Cadet Training Class (CTC) I-09 and started with 237 aspiring young men and women.
They will be reporting for their duties throughout California in about ten days.
CTC II-09 is currently in training and will be joined soon by CTC III-09. CTC IV-09 is anticpated to begin in the first part of December 2009. Each of the pending classes is anticipating at least 200 trainees.
Congratulations to those who have endured and succeeded. Stay safe!

Congrats to those 184 new officers. Now that they have became officers and are being placed throughout the state, some far from home, some where they want to be. The next phase of training and becaming a CHP officer begins, they get to be rated and evaluated by their FTO's, which is a whole new level of stress:doh: Now they have to put what they have learned while at the academy in to practice everyday on our dangerous freeways. Congrats and good luck.

Okay, now the question I'm sure a lot of us has...what is the I.D. number range? Are we into the 20k's yet?

Not yet. I believe the first badge number of this class was 19552 or somewhere close.

That means 10 days to memorize freeways, exits, local schools, jails, and hospitals?
Congratulations and be safe.

I'm sure Congrats is not enough to explain how proud everyone is! I can only imagine the feelings that every one of you graduates are feeling. I can't wait for the day that I will be graduating with my fellow cadets. Congrats again, on everyone's accomplishments and I hope to be able to call myself a cadet in December.
Congrats and Good Luck !

Man, I graduated on a Thurs. and my whole class had to report the next Monday. Must be nice! 10 days to relax and get settled. I'd suggest re-studying everything to keep it fresh!!
News is reporting this is the largest graduating class in CHP history, and we still have job openings. I have a friend who hopes she'll get in the Jan. 2010 class, so guess we ain't runnin short of applicants! YEA!!!!

Congrat to EVERYONE job well done. It must seem like such a long journey to that point and must be a great feeling to have the Academy done and on FT. Hoping the 200 cadet numbers are still accurate for CTC-IV-09, remaining hopeful to be CTC-III-09 junior class.
Next step, dreaming about retirement!
I'd hope that would be the last thing on a new officer's mind!
Awesome job on the 184 though!

As long as you start planning and thinking about retirement NOW! It comes sooner than you think! It seems like just yesterday I was reporting to the Academy, and that was 1978!

N00b (your SN, no offense intended),
Congratulations! My best wishes for a long, happy and above all, healthy career. May St. Michael follow you wherever you go.
Relax and enjoy the ride. Don't let the hairbags get you down. Remember, all the hard work you put in to the Academy is obviously because you're doing something you love to do. If you choose a profession you love, you'll never work a day in your life.
