Not a hiring question, nor a policy question.

Cupholder
AC/Heat
Am/Fm Radio

Any of those?

Oddly I'd prefer a cup holder over the other 2. It was just something I was wondering, puzzles me how it doesn't have a cup holder. Radio, I see why you wouldn’t have one (noise distraction from the radio for the CHP). AC/Heat I only ask because I drove a car once that didn't have that, nor a radio.

I think I heard the troops in Needles were going to request to have the a/c taken out of their black and whites. Something about not needed with a wool uniform in the desert in the summer time.

A/C, we don't need no freakin' A/C! When the wool fibers are soaked with sweat, you just roll down the window and drive faster. LOL

Ahh the good ol' days, when the AC would crap out on any day over 95 degrees...

All the current rides have the stereo pulled to fit the control head in that slot. They do have cup holders, but you can't get to them behind all the equipment. This is supposed to be corrected in the new ride (which has an integrated AM/FM), but oddly, I haven't tested the cupholders yet. Hmm... figured that would be the first thing I'd test!

Other than that, power everything including lumbar, tilt wheel, trunk monkey... standard base model full size car nowadays.

Is that the CVPI or the Charger? I have not seen any cup holders in the Crown Vics. I have heard you can pick up FM radio stations on the scanner though. I guess I will have to wait and see. :noidea:

That Ipod idea just might work... I will remember that one. Just make sure you turn it down when you call dispatch....

I've only been in the Crown Vics. The cupholders are pull-out from below the dash- they're blocked by the equipment in the center console.

Does an Ipod have enough power coming out of it to push the car speakers? Some sort of amp might me needed.

Your scanners most likely use an external amplified radio/scanner speaker, not the car speakers, so it should work fine. :noidea:

Yes. Never did it, but ran across cars when people forgot to plug the scanner back in. Real easy to do though

My work rides are the same. Drivers side door speaker is the two-way, and passenger is the scanner. Or depending on the unit, the speakers maybe radio shack ones mounted to the cage, drivers is twoway, and pass is scanner.

Half of our scanners dont work, and the ones that do only a few are trunked so it really does not help that much, as everyone in the areas we work are trunking so the regular scanners suck.

But I can pick up CHP

I'm glad that nobody has mentioned the Disgronificator.

Since I have been retired for awhile, where is the cloaking device mounted now? I really miss being able to slide out of stealth mode (aka the blind spot) and de-cloak directly behind a violator. Those were the days.

I have "Heard" of Border Patrol using theirs like that. Only thier version is more like following a suspected car along the border on back roads doing 50-70, using night vision goggles, blacked out. Then when the time is right turing on all their lights and the lightbar and watching the car almost crash it is sees a UFO come up behind them out of no where.

One day I was on patrol (security guard not LE) by the Mexican border as there is an SDGE site about 1000 feet away from the wall(public knowledge if you look it up, not giving anything away here). Anyway, it was my first night out and the guy training me was retiring the next day and wanted a picture of him leaning against the wall that separates Mexico and the USA. No later then five second did we encounter a swarm of Border Patrol agents with guns drawn pointed right at us and a helicopter flying directly above us. Boy did it take some fancy speaking to not get written up for that one.

Mine came with dirt, grass, shattered glass, half of an MDC, bent rifle and shotgun, and a b/o airbag.

What is up with the 20 round magazine in the ar15; the chp should use the 30 round mags instead. Explain why the chp using 20 round mags just don't make sense.

Ever try running a cord from and Ipod or XM directly through the "audio in" on the MDC? It works pretty well, you are essentially using the laptop speakers as external speakers for your device of choice.

I have thought about that. It seems like it would be pretty easy. Just not sure how loud it would get. Guess it shouldn't be too loud but sometimes you just gotta rock! LOL.....

I tried that after my iPOD speakers died, but couldn't get the sound to play through the MDC. How do?
