First of all, thank you everyone who has contributed to the forum over the past years. I've read a lot of the posts and because of the information people have shared I now have a little knowledge going into the process of becoming a CHP.
A little about myself:
I'm 22, and I'm from San Diego. Right now I currently do security work and that has played a large part into why I want to be in law enforcement. Every day I help people, rather if it is just helping them unlock a desk, doing CPR or even keeping people safe as I wait for police to deal with suspects who are a danger to others and it is because of the feeling and thrill I get from doing it that I want to be in the CHP. A little more greedy reason is because I want to make something of myself, as I'm young I've not had a career job and it would be a major accomplishment to myself if I can do this (and to be a little more greedy it will prove my parents wrong, they say I cannot commit to anything.).
I'd like to thank the monitors of this forum for being helpful and keeping this place free of spam and whatnot.
I look forward to being a contributing factor to this community.

I don't wanna make a lot of topics my first day so let me annouce it here:
I just got home from a swing shift to come into my room (live with my parents) with a letter on my bed from the CHP. First thought it might be a ticket for making a right turn on a red with photo enforcement intersection. I open it and... I got a letter saying I've been approved to go through the application process! Granted I don't know how many are denied but I'm excited already. My written is 11/14/09 and I'm going to start brushing up on my reading and comprehension, spelling and everything right away.

kinda surprised to see your tests aren't til nov. dec. seeing that makes me think they are slowing down a tad on the hiring process, which means for new applicants, it is even more pressure to pass it the first time so you don't have to wait many more months.
but hey good luck, study study study!!! there are tools out there that can be a help, get them!
keep us posted:biggrin:
