So to dive into the process I thought it would be a cool idea to try and get a ride along in before I went for my QAP.
I have been on 3 ridealongs in my life (not counting the one I did yesterday) and without a doubt I had more fun yesterday and was exposed to so much more than I had on any previous RA's.
Traffic Citations aside (which he wrote a ton of :D ) he impounded 5 cars, and let me help out with the CHP 180's. On one stop the officer found 2 pipes and let me get a good look at them before taking care of them. Almost had someone bail out of his car on a foot chase and more.
What an experience! I want to go on another, if not 2 more before the 22nd. I was excited about the prospect of working for the CHP before, but now I don't see myself doing anything else.
I just wanted to share - the officer was a very personable and charismatic person, took time to answer all my questions as best he could and really let me feel "involved" with his day.
Thanks!
