I bet those of you who worked the LA area in the 60's and early 70's remember the "Brown Bombers".

If I remember correctly, in LA City in the 1960's, the ambulance service was ran by, and a part of, LAPD.

You're correct. I believe they were known as "G" units. I don't think these guys did much for you other than take your BP,load ya up and hit the road.

Every piece of that Squad is still in use today, as well more, on every squad, engine, and truck in almost every department. :cool: It all looks complicated but it really isn't, just tools of the trade.

I have about 10 years in law enforcement, about 6 months in state corrections and about 1 year in fire (with my FF 1 and 2). One of my deparments had a hugh box rescue that had about 3 times more gear including cold weather Gumby suits, air bags, and 300 other things we never used lol.

1973 - 1976, not in LA, but I used to do what we called "Airway and Boogie"!!!! Put 'em on oxygen, open their airway, and haul a** to the hospital!!!:think:
