So, I just got back from seeing the newest incarnation of the series, and I must say, "WOO-HOO!!!". I won't ruin it for anyone that is headed to see it, but I will say it was not what I was expecting (in a good way).

Anyone else seen it yet, and if so what's your take?

Saw it. Loved it. Saw it again...

I am very pleased at the movie. The story, acting, and effects were more than I expected. It stayed true to the series except for a few twists.

That's Picard, Jean Luc. He was captain on the USS Enterprise NCC-1707D... On Star Trek, The Next Generation. James T. Kirk was the captain of NCC-1707 - The original. This movie is an off-shoot of the original series. There have been 4 feature films made based on TNG. Kirk and Picard's story-lines are set about 80 years apart; however, in one of TNG films Kirk and Picard met up.

And that's TREKKIE.

I saw it today, just to see what all the hubub was about and being far from a Trekkie (I am actually bored to tears watching the tv show), I really liked it.

They should make mandatory quizzes before you are allowed into the movie theater!!!

You should not be allowed to see JJ Abrams ST until you see AT LEAST:

2-3 TV shows of the original series (The one with Pike, and the one with Kahn)
ST Movies 2,3,4
ST Next Gen Movies 1 and 2 (Generations and 1st Contact)

THEN you can are worthy to watch the new one.

Sooo.. the whole Kobayashi Maru meant NOTHING to you. Some of us have waited 2-3 DECADES to see it!!

I need to go lay down. :hitwall:
