Well my BI called me today to say that either mond. or tued. i will be having my final interview!!! After that i will just need the medical and the psychological exams
It looks like it will have taken me three months from my written to have finished everything. I know a former CHP BI and he has told me that having my fingerprints taken the other day was basically meaning that i am in. So looks like i will just have to wait for the next academy after May and i will be there!!!
Does anybody know when the next academy, after May 29th, will be???

Background Investigator, you will get to know them very well after you spend a couple of hours with them at your initial interview and thereafter

There was another thread that hit on some of the probable dates of classes after the end of May one. I'm thinking August or Sept. ? (that'd be awesome if an officer could correct me on that one and say that June might happen......it'd be nice to get going on the whole real career thing.....and I'm getting tired of the snow....probably will still be snowing in May!).

When your BI is done with you then tell her to start on my Background Packet. It's another easy one that should only take a couple of weeks. ;)

somebody sent me a PM, but i accidentally deleted it so i will try and answer it here. the question was in regards to alcohol and how much/how often is too much. i can not answer that question, nor would i, because that is one of those things that the CHP does not tell you about. I will tell you that you just need to tell the truth, if you notice their seems to be a pattern of me saying this, and let them know. i will say that if you are a heavy drinker then you might want to think about cutting back, i see no reason why the CHP would want to hire a drunk

Have you been running and working on physical training? Hearing about you moving along this quick is a motivation for me to push even harder to get in shape. Even though I am still waiting for that initial interview, mine should move quick too. Seems that there is an academy date about every two months. Does anyone know for sure if this is the case?

Horatio laid out the scheduling scheme pretty well a while back. By my calculation (based on Horatio's formula) the remaining classes for 2006 will be 5/29, then September (don't remember the exact date), before CTC IV-06 goes for the gold in December (I don't remember the exact date for that one either). Somebody can chime in here if I've got it all wrong.

i am running and getting ready, but honestly i want to push myself much more!
my guess is Sept 18th for the next class after may. i say the 18th because it seems like they are 10 days after a class graduates and a class graduates on the 8th. this will also allow me to train the whole summer for the academy

Sac Town gets hotter than hell in the summertime. I would opt for the September class as well to get to run in the rain instead of collapsing from heat exhaustion in June/July.

Got the call today that I have been waiting for! My BI finally called to arrange for my initial interview. I am having it at my house on thursday. Wish me luck on this ongoing process. I hope mine goes as smooth as it did for "the force". Mine is pretty simple. I have only had a handful of jobs and have lived in the same house since day 1. I'll keep those of you who are interested posted!

had my Final today and i got recommended!!!:!:
obviously i still need to take the medical(this week or next) and the psych. but as far as backgrounds go i am done. my BI and i got a good laugh that i had my initial on the 15th and i was already done, sounded like it was the fastest one my BI had ever done
as always i will keep everybody updated!

Thanks everybody!!! and i would like to thank everybody on this site for being here. it seems that the word is getting around amongst the BI that chpforums.com is a great place to find info. none at the office had used it yet, but they where all starting to hear about it. hopefully they will start recommending more people who are in the process to come check out this great site!!!

Congratulations TheForceCHP on receiving your recommendation to move forward in the hiring process!
Not to be the bearer of unpleasant news though, but applicants still need to keep in mind that the CHP still takes the Medical Exam and the In-Person Psychological Interview very seriously. My spouse (currently a Cadet) personally knew a few applicants who were DQ'ed after (1) the state medical exam revealed pre-existing medical conditions that would prevent the applicant from moving forward, and (2) the psychologist not approving/clearing the applicant for hire to the Academy. One DQ example was a male who had a serious back injury years ago during his varsity football days --- the x-ray revealed current day problems. The best policy is to always be truthful at both phases about medical history and when answering the psychologist's questions.
Regarding Academy Dates
* Customarily, there is one business week in between the end date of one Academy and the start date of another. You can also calculate this by adding 10 calendar days to the end date of an Academy.
CTC I-05 was from Feb 18 - Aug 12, 2005
CTC II-05 was from May 2 - Nov 4, 2005
CTC III-05 was from Aug 22, 2005 - Feb 24, 2006
CTC IV-05 is from Nov 14, 2005 - May 19, 2005
CTC I-06 is from Mar 6 - Sep 8, 2006
CTC II-06 is scheduled to be from May 29 - Dec 1, 2006
CTC III-06 will probably be from Sep 18, 2006 - Mar 23, 2007
CTC IV-06 will probably be from Dec 11, 2006 - Jun 8, 2007
The Caliornia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has 15 BI's in the Central Division. Why does the Central Division for the CHP only have 2? I imagine it's like this for the CHP in all of California. The CHP clearly needs a larger budget.

Man all you guys out of southern seem to be flying, it seems like you guys just did your QAP's. Ah well I'll get my call soon enough.

yahh, southern should be moving quickly due to 10 BI, also they where saying that when this new batch from jan. came in that they where almost completely caught up with the previous batch so that is why things are going so smoothly. i don't know how many BI are in other divisions though.
