Does CHP use Taser gun.
If yes what is your opinion about this police non lethal tool?
In France, Taser gun tests have begun for 1 year and seems appreciated. We are expecting to see officers equipped with.

As of yet, NO. We do not have the taser in full use in our department. It is being trested and there are some on trial in the field but not yet part of the policy. Some officers have recieed the training and I believe they are starting to incoporate it into the academy. If all goes well we should start seeing them in use soon.

As for the use of it. Everyone around here where I work, has them. I, as well as many other officrs have been in pleny of situations in which they would have been a good tool to have. Many officers are looking forward to actually getting to use them. Long time coming.

They are awesome. Deployed mine only 3 times, but have put an end to numerous bad situations by just putting my laser on someone. In my opinion, ever department should carry them.

The word gets around quickly about how effective the taser is.

Agreed on all counts.

Dragging up an old thread here, but I'm wondering if tasers are still in the "testing phase." I've never seen a CHP Officer with one.

Is taser training now implemented at the Academy?

I searched the internet and dug up this, but it’s about as old as this thread:

I don't have permission to this thread. Perhaps in the officer only forum?

As PonderingCHP said, we don't have access to that page.

I did search and read all the posts that were returned in my search. I then searched the internet and found the article I posted.

Finding no current information, I replied to this post, which I found in my initial SEARCH.

My bad, I did not check what catagory that thread was under. In short, we are scheduled to get 1600 tasers issued "sometime" over the next few months. As far as training and implementation, that is up to the individual area.

When you say "we are scheduled to get 1600" are you referring to your area or are you referring to the whole department?

I'm essentially wondering if the tasers have been "approved" and it’s a matter of money, politics, and logistics to get them on the streets or if this is another phase of the "pilot program"

Thanks for taking the time to answer for those of us who can’t peer into the mystic world of the “Officers Area”

Here in Australia, Western Australia police have issued them to all general duties members, while New South Wales and Queensland have begun trials in certain areas.

Most states have designated critical incident teams that carry then, but they get called out to jobs by the general duties.

Check out the effects of a Taser X26 vs. a Marine.

If that's not an effective tool, I don't know what is.
By the way, have most CHP offices received the taser?
