I am new to this forum and I will be applying for CHP this summer after I finish college. My friend has a situation that she needs assistance. She applied to the CHP in 2004 and was DQd for recency of drug use of marijuana. She reapplied in 2005 and made it through backgrounds, but she forgot to disclose to the QAP that she was DQd in 2004. She was not recommended by the background investigator because of inconsistency. In the 2004 application, she disclosed that she used two illegal substances and in her 2005 application she only put down one illegal substance. My friend really wants to become a CHP officer, what can she do now to correct this? I think she dugged herself into a grave and what can she do to show CHP that she is a great candiate? Should she reapply and explain the whole situation to the QAP or just give up on CHP?

I believe some maturity and time will make a difference in her success. When the time comes for the next testing process, honesty is the best and only option.

I would also urge her and anyone in the hiring process to make copies of any documents you submit. Knowing EXACTLY what you reported during previous applications or prior steps in the process is extremely important. You will be required to state and restate facts about your background at various stages throughout the hiring process. Hope this helps.
