FONTANA, Calif. - Authorities say three boys were killed when they fled from police in a car that then rolled over several times and ended up in a Fontana front yard.
The California Highway Patrol says in a statement released Thursday that the 14-year-old driver and an 11-year-old passenger were thrown from the car and died at the scene.
A 6-year-old boy wearing a seat belt in the back seat later died at Arrowhead regional medical center.
A CHP officer pulled over the Nissan Maxima in Fontana just before 9 p.m. Wednesday but the driver sped off as the officer walked toward the car.
The statement says the driver ran several red lights and reached 90 mph on city streets before losing control and hitting the front-yard wall of a house. The car flipped over and the two boys were ejected.
