I read in this mornings paper an Officer in the Red Bluff area was involved in an accident while making a U-turn in front of an oncoming vehicle while trying to chase down a speeder. Officer James Malner was part of the St. Patrick's Day crackdown when he was contaced by air opp's of a speeder on highway 99. The Officer was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Chico and was later transported to a medical center in Roseville. Doesn't say anything about his condition this morning.

Has anyone heard anything about how Officer Malner is doing?

I understand his injuries are moderate and non-life threatening. If possible I, or someone else in my office, may stop by today and say hello. Will update if one us does.

Without stepping on the officer's privacy, I saw him today and he is very sore and will be released any day. He'll mend, but it will take awhile. His spirits were good.

Phil,
You seem like a nice guy. Why has France deserted the USA in the war on terror? We (our countries) have a very long history and have been allies in many conflicts. I don't want to spoil the forum but if you have any ideas as a Frenchman as to how we can get our countries back on the same page I would like to hear them. As it stands, I will not vacation in France or buy French products...
DW, if you want to delete this , go ahead. I don't know that it is appropriate for this forum. Phil, if it doesn't get deleted, and you have some opinion as a normal Frenchman, I would love to hear your take on things.

Retchp, here is my personal opinion: I regret france did not support USA but the main reason is army shortcut budget; it is very simple; economic is quiet bad here and budget short cuts are everywhere; I also think President Chirac wanted to avoid lot of terrorist bombings here.
I am sad USA/France friendship is not better; we have a so long common history.....................We helped America against Britishs and America helped us against Nazis. At least, France could have help USA in Irak in a different way.

Okay I heard something on the news today while they were talking about the rioting going on in France over the last week or so. After you work for a company(I assume any company) for a period of one year you are entitled to 5 weeks vacation.

It was not riots but students walks against a new goverment employment plan.
The problem is that some bad guys like the ones who burnt cars on Nov. 2004 went to fight with police forces, to break shop windows to rob goods or to rob walkers or any attendies around walks locations.

After you work for a company(I assume any company) for a period of one year you are entitled to 5 weeks vacation.
That's right. Those vacations are paid by the company.
