The shooting in Pismo Beach at Denny's a couple of days ago, and then a chase begins there today...Wow, so much for wanting to live in a peaceful town by the ocean!

Chase started in Templeton, about 20 miles north of Pismo.

Bad guys got low on gas and pulled off in Pismo. One ran and got caught, one 'jacked a car with a vacationing Grandpa and Grandma in it and continued south on 101. Bad guy called CHP on Grandma's cell phone, tries to negotiate, and says he is a "Three Striker" and "Will not go back to prison".

Speeds ranged from 100 to 140 mph according to the scanner traffic. (I didn't know a Jeep Cherokee could go that fast...)

CHP units backed off and let the helicopters CHP "H-70" and S.B. SHERIFF "AIR 1" follow the bad guy since he had Grandma and Grandpa on board as hostages.

Bad guy runs low on gas (again) near Gaviota (60 miles south of Pismo). Pulls over, leaving Grandma and Grandpa scared, but unhurt, 'jacks a BIG Moving truck, and then continues southbound on 101.

Bad guy gets spike stripped near El Capitan Beach (About 5 miles later) and pulls off 101.

Bad guy tries to 'jack a pickup truck...The driver of the pickup he tried to 'jack was an UNDERCOVER DOJ DRUG AGENT!!!!:badgrin: Shots are fired...GOOD GUY 1...BAD GUY 0.

No Officers hurt...:smile:

U. S. 101 closed 1:30 PM to 6:30 PM...:mad:

The weather must be making people crazy down here. Thankfully I've escaped back to my hometown in the Bay Area for the week. Hopefully this craziness will blow over by the time I get back down there. :shock:
