Just like everyone else says: great site, great information, great entertainment value at times, thanks for the effort everyone who tries to help.

My question today is: i sent my PHS in at the end of August/beginning of September for the Southern Division and was wondering how long it usually takes to hear from an investigator.

(I just checked the actual dates and it's really only been 4 weeks, but it feels like much longer.) But if anyone is going through the same or has any experience, i'd appreciate it.

Thanks. Be safe.

Same boat as you.
Sent mine in 09/21/05, for Golden Gate.

I guess I have a few more weeks to wait!!

Good Luck!

and I have wanted to ask this question as well, but now I know your wait time, I can expect a few more weeks of...waiting.

Mine was about a month, but it depends on the caseload of the BI most likely. Don't expect to get into the November academy though. I was told by my BI in early July that there was no chance of getting processed in time for the August academy, and now I am cutting it close for November. You are probably looking at Feb. Don't get discouraged and let it ruin your holidays.

Yes it is. Complete with a CHP decal on the side.

Jacob: I turned mine in as well for Valley Division in July. DId you get a commitment to hire form that you had to sign and return? If you did that, then it is just a waitning game I assume. I feel your pain but I am staying busy with working and going to school full time, and of course working out.

About two days after I started this thread I received a call from a BI. He didn't set up an appointment but said he would arrange it soon (yes soon is a relative term during the hiring process) but at least someone is on my case. Well, hopefully not ON MY CASE...but you get the idea.

So it took a little over 4 weeks from the date my PHS was due. That was in the Southern Division. Hope it helps.

And if I didn't say it before, congrats NELLIE. You are a rock star.

Good Luck. Be Safe.

I still have to pass the psych evaluation. When I told my family that I only have the psych eval, they all laughed and said I was sure to fail. Of course they were just messing with me. ;)

undertow999 - Yeah, I turned in the Commitment to hire the same day I got in the mail. I've been waiting ever since. Another applicant in Valley Division I talk to said he just got a call from his BI today (10/7), so, hopefully sometime this month we'll hear something. Let me know if you hear anything.

It took about 3 months to hear from my BI.
Like previously said, it depends on their Case Load.

Wow all you guys are moving along at a very rapid pace. It took 1 year 10 months and 13 days from start to finish for me and I didn't have anything out of the ordinary in my background. So be patient. They have two years before everything expires and you have to go through things again.

Hey lomotor,

Ever spend any time driving buses in a circle in the mountains?

I've been waiting, it seems like forever, myself. One of my supervisors saw a BI in the area and talked to him a couple of weeks ago; he was checking out someone else in the area for the November class. So here I sit chomping at the bit.

Yeah, the waiting is hard to do. I am going out of the valley division also. I had my medical done last week and am waiting on a psych. appointment. There is still a few weeks left until the next class starts so hopefully I'll have everything done in time. Everything actually went pretty quickly once my background started though. I had my background, CVSA, and med. exam done in 8 days, so I am pretty optimistic right now.

Wow, I just found this forum from a google search and am sure glad I joined. Lots of great info and talk in here.I myself and currently as well in the process for CHP and have recently turned in my PHS on 10/25. I will be discharged from the Navy in March of 06 and hope I can be in a Academy class within a couple of months after that. Well, I hope that all goes well for everyone in here with their processes and wish everyone good luck. Anyone in here out of Border Division? Thanks, Ray

Well, I had my psych. interview on Friday. Now I have to sit and wait again. I think this is the most nervous I've been through the whole process because this time I have no idea of what the psychologist was looking for. I guess it's all out of my hands now, so all I can do is hope for the best.

Keep in mind that daylight savings time just ended, giving you a whole extra hour to wait.
