Bless their hearts, one and all. What they have seen with their own eyes is something we cannot possibly imagine. I looked through many of the YouTube offerings appropriate for this day (and every day). Being a "war baby" during WWII, I can only remember VE-Day when my siblings were all singing and dancing around as they banged spoons on pans. I remember joining in, but I didn't know what for. Just that our family was exploding with laughter and happiness. I am proud of all of you who have and are currently serving this great country --thank you!

God Bless our Veterans, those who are currently serving, and those who will serve in the future. It's an honorable calling.

For those who missed it, there's also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KYlrrAWCTRg It was just sent to me and I was compelled to share it.

Much has been lost these days...I recall as a boy, we used to go to town and line the streets of our small town to give thanks to those who survived Corregidor, Bataan, Normandy, Heartbreak Ridge. Yesterday, I had my little flag outside my apartment...the only one...and as I went out few people seemed conscious that it was anything but...a holiday...

Funny you mention the flag thing Andy...I notice the same thing. My wife, a former Marine, and I, Navy veteran, have decided that our next home will have a lighted flagpole. So that I can fly the American flag 24/7....except, of course, in inclement weather.

Nice idea. I wonder if the flag thieves will still try to steal it. It'll certainly involve a lot more than the usual hit and run

My ultra patriotic hubby has always had a flag outside of our home. We live in a townhome and the pole is mounted on our roof above the patio. It is always up and a light with a timer shines on it at dusk.
