Because color can be changed, and putting the model would be paperwork nightmare!
Some states do have color on the registration....but pig is right......paper nightmare.

The make is, but not the model. There are ways of getting the model from information on the registration print out. I always thought that R/O phone number should be on there, and it could be updated every year when the reg. is renewed. It would assist with follow-up.

Thats assuming people renew their registration and they have a phone. The people that would do this aren't the people we normally are dealing with.

I'd like to have it for the decent people...the unreported 10851's..."where'd you get the car?"..."Joe let me borrow it."...
Call the owner, find out. Of course the dirtbags aren't going to have their info on their, but their phone's are probably disconnected anyway because of lack of payment during their last 90 day tour in county.
Of course, if they can't figure out how to add the tab serial numbers to the databases, I don't think we'll have any phone numbers on dmv abstracts for a long time.
A good dispatcher knows how to run the seriel number on the tab. Just like the off road stickers, a good dispatcher knows how. I don't see where the paperwork nightmare comes into play. Make, Model, Color. Doesn't seem that difficult. Not many people re-paint their car in another color. I think DMV is just lazy. Stolen info already contains the make, model, color and even more information. It seems the ability to input the information is already there, it's just a matter of somebody taking charge. Other states have insurance information with policy number and expiration date.
