Since I know my husband wont see this before it closes, I have a quick question for all officer's and their families....What is a good Academy Graduation gift idea (from wife to Cadet husband)?? What were some things given/received? We still have some time before 3-08's...but looks like I only have a couple days left to ask! thanks

What I mean is take 3 days and go on a cruise or the mountains, anything, just something completely different then the academy.

I got a flat badge in a wallet that I still use today. I also tell the new people to put it away for a year so they don't get themselves into trouble with it.

Here's some ideas in order of importance.
1. Vacation (Like Force said, anything but the academy)
2. Good secondary weapon
3. Good rechargeable flashlight (I love my stinger LED from streamlight)

I asked a similar question here:

and during the 10day "break" before first report day at the office I requested/demanded (tomato/tomatoe) that the first few days be NO CHP anything. Meaning no trips to the gun shops, uniform places, and things like that. The first few days were like a vacation (dittoing what the Verified Chippies have already suggested) we drove around the new city sites, hubby actually got to watch some t.v., and just took our time doing things no rush needed. After the first few days well........... it was CHP everything. Road trips w/ the whole family learning his beats which I recommend all the wives doing w/ their men in a new area. I'am no longer afraid of getting lost now that I learned whole lot of routes.

Rayni, I wasn't the only one??? :lol::lol::lol:
I totally agree with the vacation or decompression time. As far as a tangible gift, I went for a memento type of gift; I got him a pocket watch with an engraving. My hubby is a little picky with the equipment type stuff, so I wanted to leave that part up to him, but that is just me.
