PSDII Position Pay Question

I recently completed the hiring process for PSDII. The department is hoping to schedule my reporting date for 10-1-08; however nothing has been confirmed yet.

I know that I will be on a monthly pay schedule; does anyone know when I will receive the first payment?

My husband has just received word that he is part of a large layoff, so we are now trying to 'line up' all of our finances. Knowing whether I will be paid upon arrival, or at the end of the month will really help us to make some decisions!

I know the obvious answer would be to contact my supervisor regarding this! However I am sure you all understand the impression I might make by bringing up such an issue so early on....

We get paid the month following our work so if you start 10/1 your first paycheck will arrive 11/1. OT usually comes sometine in between. It is hard at first to get used to one check a month, I'd suggest you try to get all the bills due dates to come around the 5th or so. Welcome to the club.

That's a BU5 perk to my knowledge. We (BU7) are "supposed" to get the OT within 30 days........depending on your office, and who does your timekeeping both in area and HQ, you could get OT checks from the 10th to the 28th. (I've been at both ends of the spectrum.)
