My husband is in CTC II-08 and we got our Dream Sheets! Yay! Wondering if anyone knows which offices have gone to 12 hours? More specifically, which offices that are listed on our dream sheet. Thanks!

My husband just submitted his application for the CHP, and we're just getting started on things.
When you were saying that some offices are at 12 hours, do you mean their shifts are 12 hours each?
Thanks for the help!!

Thanks for the help!!Yes. 12 and 1/2, technically.
I would like a copy of the 12-hour offices too!!
How many days a week do the officers work on 12-hour work days??I don't know if it varies office to office, but in the situation I know of, officers work something like Mon-Tues-Wed on week one, having Thurs-Sun off. Week 2 they work Mon-Tues-Wed-Thurs with Fri-Sun off. Then repeat week one, etc...
Preparing for academy equal hiring, dream sheets at academy don't equal hiring? You're right -- it's all gray. Look for clarification coming soon. Or, at least, a solution.

I believe it is 4 on, 3 off, 3 on, 4 off . I am not sure..
I hope this doesn't count as misinformation.
Then let someone in the know (A verified chippy) give the answer.
-It has nothing to do with starting on Mondays
-It is not 4 on 3 off, only 172 (up to 176 depending on the month) hours per FLSA (how good of days off depend on seniority (usually))
-Day off are based off priority, seniority, training days, vacation, etc.
If they are at the academy then woultn't it be a "Hired" question? I mean, they smurfs are "hired" assuming they don't do something nasty. :cool:At that point, they've been hired as a Cadet.... And for most of us, the goal is to become hired as an Officer.

Can someone explain to me more what this is and how to read what ppl have posted about this?
I am wondering availablity of newly graduated officers from academy... how likely they will be placed in the No Cal area (Sacramento more specifically)
Thank you!

Not likely because it's so popular and most of the officers that are working here in Sac are older and they have senority. The offices up here are smaller and they are VERY popular so don't really expect to stay up here in Sac. I am hoping somewhere close too but I know we wont be staying in Sac.

When we first heard about the possibility of getting into an office with 12 hour shifts we were so excited. I've heard lots of other people say that 12 hours seems like a LONG day, but for our family, it's a short day. Before becoming a cadet, my hubby worked in a job where he'd work 14-15 hour days 5 days a week, sometimes 6, with NO OVERTIME since he was salaried. So, to hear that he might get a 12 hour office was a blessing! This whole experience is a blessing and he's loving every minute of it! And, we're loving it too!
