Hi,

I have two dumb questions regarding CHP cruisers...

1) I've seen alot of CHP cruisers without their patrol number on the roof. Why is that? Why don't they put the numbers on the side and/or the back?

2) Why don't CHP cruisers have something like "Emergency Dial 911"?

Thanks.

I think the fleet should have "State Police" written on the front fenders to shut people up.

CHP units are indentified by the last four digits of the license number. So they are on the back and the front. Some areas use the roof numbers to aid air crews in contacting units during pursuits or other incidents like setting up perimeters. As to why they don't put the numbers on all cars? I have no idea. Same goes the the "911" stickers. My guess would be it costs too much.

Would the office number the unit works out of be any part of those four digits?
