Just a quick question...
How formal is the first interview with the background investigator?
I understand to dress nice but I dont want to overdue the occasion. I plan on wearing slacks, nice shoes and and long sleeve button up shirt. Is that good enough?
Thanks for the help -

Thats exactly what I wore for my first interview. Where is your interview taking place? Your residence or at one of the CHP offices? Just ask your BI, and he/she will tell you waht to wear. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks for the good info!...I am definitely going to wear my suit just to be safe.
...This is my first interview and its at my home. He says if everything goes smoothly, I would most likely be in the academy in late may...thanks again undertow999 and Dipmo. So where are you guys in the process???

No problem. I'm still waiting for my initial call from the BI. I sent my packet to Valley Division on 2/4 and last I heard it had been sent to Central Division to be assigned to an investigator since I live in the mountains closer to Fresno than Sacramento.

If you are shooting for the May 29th academy then we may in there together! I am in BG's and I am waiting for my BI to schedule my final BG interview. I am in VA and it has taken a little longer, but in May it will have been 2 years in the process. So, good luck...The interview that you are getting ready to have is not that stressful! Good Luck!

I finally had mine today!
I had been waiting for several months for my initial, and yesterday afternoon, I received the call! I've been turned over to a new BI, and he had me come in this morning. Yes, I wore a suit. Which reminds me...WARNING! I was filling out some paperwork and the pen was getting scratchy. I shook it a bit, and green ink came out, all over the paperwork and my suit! I'll take it to the dry cleaners, but chances are, I'll be buying a new suit, at least the jacket. Oh well, such is life. If your pen goes scratchy, take no chances, ask for a new one!
Basically, you'll fill out paperwork, clarify some things, and they give you a lot of useful info about the academy & the job. My BI is really friendly. Enjoy!
pupdog did you have your's at Golden Gate Division?
Tom
Because if you did I saw you there today. We were teaching a carseat refresher there at division.

Wouldn't it be a better idea to just bring your own writing instrument?....green ink?

Green ink is used to denote change of information on the PHS. Aditional changes may be made in red at the final interview.

I did have some changes. I typed them up so they were ready to go. Change of address, change of phone numbers for various people, new financial account, that sort of thing.
