Don't let your jaw hit the floor when viewing these "warm and fuzzy" pictures from the Colorado State Patrol. The only thing they are missing are the pictures of the cadets being read their bedtime stories....

It looks like the first set is the orientation for the new cadets and their families and the second set is when the fun begins. Notice the different attire?
So they do things a bit different from us. If you don't know the whole story behind the pictures, don't assume or criticize.

I agree snowdog, either it is family orientation day or they take very young cadets.

Somehow, I don't think their physical training compares with the California Highway Patrol...

Physical Training
This is the most challenging phase of training for most cadets. You will need to report for training prepared for a strenuous conditioning program. The Physical Training (PT) Staff will motivate you to push your body to its limits and beyond. You will be expected to pass a variety of Physical Fitness Tests and the Physical Performance Program Test.
To prepare yourself, you should be involved in some form of strength training program. A circuit training program is advisable. You should also be running at least 3 miles, 3 times a week, at a 9-minute-per-mile pace. You should also be able to perform 50 sit-ups, 50 push-ups and 4 pull-ups prior to reporting to the Academy. This will ensure that you meet the minimum acceptable level for incoming cadets.

The site states DAY 1. Those are DAY 1 pictures. Yes, I noticed the different attire during WEEK 1. There is nothing wrong with showing how different two state academies conduct their first days. You may feel I am citicizing them but really I am not, this was strictly meant for educational purposes....
