We are lucky there were no officers injured. My prayers go out to the pilot, though.

Oh, this could have been so much worse. I am so sorry for the pilot's family and loved ones, but am also grateful that there were no injuries or other loss of life. Scary.

2 years ago a plane crashed into some sort of holding tank (water?), right near that inspection facility. The San Martin airport is only a couple miles away, right on the freeway.

A bit closer then a couple miles..just as a point of reference. (unless you're speaking of the water tank)

ya, I guess it is less than a mile. I thought the scales were on the other side of the freeway too? I remember some construction on the southbound scales.

There are two sets, one on the southbound and one on the northbound, I believe. The southbound are farther away from the airport. I drove through there yesterday morning and the wreckage was still present. That looked horrific, and I am still so thankful no officers were there. Thank God it was a training day.

I am glad no one was hurt and that the sclaes were closed down for the day. I do not think the Dunsmuir Scales would have held up that well.
I hope the pilot did not suffer!
