Hello,
I'm new, like really new. 'We' just got invited to do the written test in September.
I just wanted to say we are really excited and I think we are going to make it all the way to academy (power of positive thinking )....
Anyways, I just wanted to know what some of the things that helped you were when your cadet first left?
Also does anyone know when the next program starts (I-09? i think)?
TIA

First of all, welcome and congratulations on starting the journey!
For your first question, my best advice would be to have some sort of support system for you (friends, family, etc) and to keep busy!
For your second question, the Academy classes are roughly every quarter. 2008's classes are/have been January, April, July, and November.
Good luck to you!!
Also does anyone know when the next program starts (I-09? i think)?
TIACheck out DW's posts. Academy Dates.

I guess the best advice would be to be patient. It may take awhile and there may be some lonely academy times but when it is over you get a 30 year career in a great organization and lifetime security for the family.

Congrats and welcome! Positive thinking is a necessity in this process. It sounds like you are at the beginning of it all. Have patience and hang in there. I remember we would get discouraged when we didn't get anything in the mail from CHP....but then news would come.
As far as what helps when my cadet first left---- staying busy!!! I won't lie, it was tough for both me and my cadet that first week. But we got through and we are looking forward to January 23 (graduation day). Hang out with family and friends and stay positive. Your cadet will need that from you.
Hope everything works out for you.
