Hey ani le dodi, things are going well for me. I miss him a lot but it's getting to be WAY easier than WEEK 1. It's hard to say goodbye but i have a great support system so that helps.:biggrin: Week 5 seems like it started a little different for our cadets but it will be fine. They will find a way to get through it all. =] I am so proud of all of them that have made it this far. CONGRATS everyone!

I'm enjoying any projects I can help my cadet with. I look forward to the calls and the stories. I love and support him and importantly, I hope to see him soon!!

Hello everyone,
same here, I miss my hubby so much but I try not to show him though. He tells me most of them are home sick but hey, at least they are more flexible with calls at night, we can talk more, of course if he is not studying or fixing his things for the next day. Monday is the worst day for me. Tuesday is a bit better since WED is coming and they have liberty in the afternoon, when Thursday comes, we are already thinking of Friday when I get to see him.
Almost 5 weeks down ladies, 22 to go...WE CAN DO IT!! THEY CAN DO IT!!

The weeks ARE going by faster now...I'm super happy about that. Monday and Tuesday, for me, are the hardest. But I agree, after Wed. it seems to go by fast. I'm already counting down the days till Friday.

Do your cadets come home every weekend? Have they mentioned possible staying the weekend for additional training etc?

So far my cadet has been coming home every weekend. He did mention that because they have a large class, EVOC testing may take place during the weekend for some of them. There will also be a weekend in November (when the next class starts) where they may have to stay and help with orientation.

I have heard about that. My cadet comes home every weekend but we live pretty close to the academy so he might stay a weekend and do training then.

My cadet stays up there almost every weekend. We live so far so he only flys down every 3-4 weeks. He doesn't mind being up there on the weekends...gives him a chance to study with the other cadets that stay up there and train.

My cadet flies home every weekend. He told me that he will have to stay over the weekend for EVOC testing. We are anticipating some stay-there weekends, but so far, he has come home every weekend. The airfare for Southwest isn't too bad when you book ahead of time.
Does anybody know FOR SURE that they have Thurs. and Fri off for both Thanksgiving and Christmas? What about Wed. liberty? I'm not sure how to book my hubby's flight. :noidea:

Okay thanks. What about liberty on Wed.? Any suggestions? Maybe I should just play it safe and book the flight for Thursday, not Wed.

I think it will be best if you do book it for early THU, only because, thinking about it, they will be off 2 days and they will probably be let out very late on WED, might not have that WED liberty due to them being off 2 days.
In the past, when they have Thanksgiving off, they are off as of about 5pm Wed afternoon, but you need to figure time to get out of the academy, to a crowded airport during rush, etc... 5 means leaving a classroom at 5, going to room, change, get stuff to take home, check out, etc...

Mom is correct in the taking more time once being let out and the airport being busier. My husband, in CTC III-07, had Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving. Their class got out around 5 Wednesday night, maybe a little early. But he didn't leave the academy right then. I would book the later flight Wednesday night for him, but I would wait as long as you can to book it in case their schedule changes. I am not saying it will, but I try to plan for worst case scenario. Just my two cents...

...or you could buy a refundable/reusable ticket on Southwest, in case schedules change.

That too, but I don't know what airline she's booking on. :noidea:

The fastest way to the Sacramento Airport on a Friday around 5 is
Take Reed ave east
Left on Harbor Blvd
Left on the Old River Rd
Left on County Rd 118
Take I-5 South
Exit Airport Blvd
Good Luck!!!

Hubby and I went tooling by Reed Ave. on I-80 last evening on our way home from Reno, and I waved "goodnight" to your cadets as we went by. What a lovely Sacramento evening!
