"The Police Board ruled in May that 55-year-old Nevers intimidated Starbucks employees by screaming at them and flashing her badge, handcuffs or gun when they wanted her to pay."

Yeah Mom it does sound like an addiction, but to what, the caffeine or the authority?

Seems to me a big difference between being offered free items and demanding free items. Badge heavy.

....Or... Just possibly.... There could -- I know, it's a long shot -- there could be more to the story than in the two paragraphs reported.

I have never heard of a 15 month suspension. In most of my HR classes, general practice is if you think you need to suspend someone for more than 90 days, you terminate them.

I really like that last link picture. While I look like that some mornings I have yet to become dependent upon coffee to function in the morining. I am still young though.

There is an addiction syndrome to coffee. My routine at work (prior to retirement) was:

Arrive at 0755 hrs.
Pass through the office and go directly to the coffee pot.
Fill cup and drink it. (Lots of sugar and creamer)
Refill cup and go to morning briefing.

The rule was...
"No one talks to BCJack until he has had at least one cup of coffee. He's not very nice until then".
