Hi Everyone - My BF is in CTC III-08 and definitely not within driving home on weekend distance!! A flight from where I am is pretty expensive so I am limited to how many times I can come out to see him. I've been told that they will have 4 days off during their 27 weeks.......does anyone happen to know when these days are yet? There are several holidays that fall within their training period (Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas) so I would assume that they might be around that time......but you know what they say when you assume? Has anyone heard from their cadets about days off yet??
Any info is greatly appreciated......I'm planning on booking a flight as soon as I find out.
Thanks!

I have been trying to find this out too...I asked at orientation and was told they did not have the schedules yet. The holidays fall on Thursdays which is challenging, but I was told that there were holiday's off that were factored into their time at the academy, whatever that means.

I have asked previous classes and they said they got Thanksgiving day off and the day after, Christmas day off and New Year's day off. But they said each class is different and there is no way to know until they get their schedules. Their holidays were also on Fridays so it was one day not two. I just figured on not having him around and if he is YIPPIE!!! I am being trained to not expect any holidays until at least ten years in!

But then every day with him is a holiday!

Your cadets should have received a schedule for their entire time at the academy (I would think they would have it by now). I always kept a copy of it at home when my hubby was there. Ask them about it on your next call.

I heard that CTC-III 08 have Thursday and Friday off for Thanksgiving and Christmas. To my knowledge at this time the schedules have not been distributed to everyone for the entire Academy term, they have schedules for a few weeks only. Can anyone else verify this?

My husband is in CTC II-08. In the beginning, they would only get their schedules for a month or so at a time. They just recently (about halfway point) got the schedule for the remainder of the Academy. Because of this, you may not have a lot of notice for the days off. For instance, my husband's class had yesterday off, and found out about it just a couple weeks ago. Hopefully they'll give you more notice, since it'll be for the holidays.

Thanks for the responses! The last time I talked to him he still did not know what days he'd have off but he was pretty sure about Thanksgiving.....it would be nice if they had off Christmas and the day after because then he could come home . But right now I'm planning to fly out for Labor Day weekend, he's not sure if they will be off or not for the holiday so I don't know when I should book my flight home. Worst case scenario I book it for the day after and either try to change it if he's not off or else I can spend a day in sunny Sacramento......alone . Better make sure the hotel has a pool!!

CTC II-07 had Thanksgiving off, but not Friday as that was their Ride Along day with their new office. They graduated Dec 21st, and reported for their first day of work on New Years Eve. (No more holidays...) I know they didn't get July 4th. They did get a couple odd days off. Their schedule was usually only a month at a time til the last 2 months.

A guess here... CTC III-08 will have a day or two off around CHristmas, BUT will also have a ride along during that time...

You aren't going to be able to live your life around the calendar for a while. Heck, my son didn't even find out his schedule for the first week until his first real day at the office.

Come on out to sunny Cali!!

It's pretty sad because I'm lost without my little day planner!! :noidea: I am working on the Cali thing.....but I'm stuck in a contract with my job until September 2009....it's gonna be rough until then, but I keep telling myself that time will fly. I am checking to see if there are any ways out of my contract without penalties....if there are, I can't really do anything until after he graduates anyway because we don't know where he will end up so I wouldn't even know where to begin to look for a job or an apartment!! So I am planted here until at least the end of January, but worst case scenario......September '09
