Tonight I broke the law. 25662 (a) (Minor In Poessession). I took my written test not but last Saturday (for the second time). I know this is going to come up in my BI and I will not lie about it but will this disqualify me from the the hiring process in general? I am really freaking out right now, the only other citation, other than this one, was a minor parking ticket four years ago. My record was crystal until now.

Uh yeah, I would say any alcohol violation especially while in the process will DQ you.
It shows lack of judgment, not good...

did you get caught or were you drinking and still under 21 and just bragging?

you can consider this enough to dq you. minor in possession isn't a major offense that would dq you if it was back in your past, but considering that it just happened, not to mention that it happened while you were in the process, is enough to drop you. best bet is to stay clean for about 3 years, and try again. thats what i had to do... i had a minor issue in my past (not one i am willing to discuss), and i waited 3 years before testing again. even at that point, it was heavily scrutinized.

I would agree with Chipper on this one. It is going to be hard to explain such a recent lapse of judgment to the QAP panel so you might not even have to worry about a background investigation DQ.
You are not even 21 yet though. Put a couple of years worth of good work history, volunteer work, and clean living between you and this incident and I can't see why you would not have a good chance at getting hired at that point (so long as you are candid about what happened).

did you get caught or were you drinking and still under 21 and just bragging? Two friends and I were drinking out of a small flask in a parking lot next to a club when two undercover officers rolled up and made contact.

Hmm, I have a mental picture of you all standing there in your oversized t shirts, sagging pants and gang banger beanie hats passing a bottle of wine in a paper sack back and forth. Very becoming for a potential CHP officer:badgrin: But seriously, you are probably toast for awhile. Learn from it.

I am your typical white boy. Yes, I have learned from it.Nate, I think we all have had issues with being young and dumb in the past. Like Retchp said, learn from it. But do not go through life being typical. Learn to be different and not follow the crowd if you want this job. I am not an officer yet, but already I weigh everything I do with "how would the CHP look at this?" From going to parties to friendships I no longer have. If you want the job, you will be become a different person, and your true friends will respect you for the change.
Hope you understand what I am saying!
