Just wanted to know if anyone has any 411 on any places to rent for the next six months? This way my bro could save time and $$ instead of flying home or driving 7 hours and not have to stay at the academy?

i remember them saying something about people that will rent rooms to cadets but im not sure....he could always stay at a cheaper hotel...there are some for about 60 a night nearby!

Or he could save a ton of money on a room and food and just stay at the academy most weekends
Stay at the academy Friday night, then leave bright and early Sat morning and head to one of the hotels (Doubletree is a favorite here.) Why pay all month when you only need 3-4 nights a month.
I recommend the Montbleu in South Lake Tahoe. Very conducive to studying, eh BoySergeant?

i know i'm seemingly alone on this, but since all of the naysayers never tried it, i'll speak up... my husband lived at the academy on the weekends and it wasn't a bad deal. he came home when he could, stayed elsewhere if he felt like it, but that dorm room was his home for 27 weeks. he could come and go on the weekends and the staff officers respected that the weekends were his "time off" and never hassled him. it saved a lot of money and honestly, it just wasn't as big a deal as some people make it out to be.

at the academy the chance of getting distracted by s/o, dogs, kids, etc is a lot less = quiet time to study.....
My husband studied so much on the weekend he went to bed pretty early during the week, which sort of bugged his roommate who was up late studying every night.
