If you are late to the academy what are the consequences...

Not a pretty picture, but it also can depend a little on the reason. If for some CRAZY reason you were to be late then the number one thing would be to call ahead to the staff office

You mean returning from liberty (and not the first day)? Um, yeah. Call the Staff Office and, well.... He'll find out.

Once...but will they kick them out or just get yelled at ??? First time....first weekend!I think there will be several considerations. How late and why. If he fell asleep and didn't wake up in time, it may be ugly. If there was a massive pileup and he is stuck for hours in traffic (and of course the CHP will be able to verify this) things will probably be said, but won't be AS bad. Missed his flight is one thing, flight cancelled is another....

As for how bad, I seriously doubt the first, but depending on the cause, the second and then some (the ugly M word comes to mind, the ugly B C words, and a few others...) If he is going to be late, I hope he called.

OK, I think I found the problem. Make sure he calls the staff office. If his flight gets off earlier than the delay is expected, he can make it.

You might also have him check as there is another flight on the delayed list that might leave earlier. Have him talk to the gate agents. And keep your fingers crossed.

There can be several consequences. I think it's safe to say that he will very likely be eating weekend goulash next weekend and will be near the top names known by staff. That's not a good place to be.

I hope this helps to put your mind at ease.

Regardless of the reason, there will be consequences when a Cadet is late for something....ANYTHING (and the old saying "On time is late" sometimes applies). There are plenty of reasons a person may be late in returning to the Academy...but not many excuses, if you get what I mean. But to answer your question, no he won't be 'kicked-out' for being late...this time (actually the contrary will probably happen, as snowdog eluded to, he will most likely be invited to actually stay a little longer.....um....like a weekend or two!).

This is a very good opportunity for all to learn from though...ALWAYS have a 'Plan B'....ALWAYS! Most places in California are no further than a 6 to 8 hour drive from Sacramento....major pain, but it may very well save a weekend liberty AND help to maintain that sought after anonimity with the Staff Officers.

Either way, he will survive....he may not think so at times....but he will survive this.

Best of luck.

Thank you Yzeman, he luckily will make it on time, he left at 10 and will be in SAC at 11:15..phewww. This really helps and will make sure to get him a flight early Sunday's....we both learned from this and I hope others do as well..

thank you all so much!!!

Good to see that he may have made it in time.

For the sake of simplicity, you don't EVER want to be late. Although, there are a number of classmates who will be happy to have the pressure taken off of them, the cadet being late will suffer tremendously at the attention s/he will tender for a long while to come.
