Just curious if you guys have any plans to adapt WatchGuard to your patrol unit's?

Tremendous help when it comes to reviewing DWI arrest and making a case report for it.

Wow, that looks great! I'd PAY for one... seeing as how the State Budget isn't signed yet, I figure that is the ONLY way I'll ever see one. Well, that and all of the testing that must be done first... oh, and let's not forget getting competitor bids... maybe it will be really close to what is depicted, but not quite the same...

I love it... really.

We are in the process of buying 1600 or 1800 (one of the two) onboard cameras for the cars. I doubt if we will get something that good.

We're probably in the middle of a two year study, testing the "betamax" version...

What ever happened to the video system SLA tested with a heads up display and voice activated controls?

What ever happened to the video system SLA tested with a heads up display and voice activated controls?Visteon? It didn't record that I'm aware of. I know this will shock you, but we're still evaluating systems and alleged the bid is out.

Best advice I can give regarding Watchguard, always keep some quality blank DVD's on hand. When you mark them with your radio call number make sure they are dry before you install them.

The watchguard system goes back video only two minutes before it is activated. You have video but no audio.

Ours is activated any time the red and blues come on. Wig wag's you can use them without activating the system.

Actually, you had two recruiters en route to a job seminar in CA.
Both officers were very professional, enjoyed what they did, and it was a pleasure talkng with them.

I really like the way the Texas DPS cars look. Good paint/color scheme and the "STATE TROOPER" emblazoned on each side can't be beat.

Texas DPS has to recruit!? in California? or I think you mean it was part of their job training.

Nope, they were recruiting. The female and male TX officers said they were having a difficult time finding qualified candidates. Hence, the trip to CA.

A state the size of Texas having trouble finding qualified candidates?

We are having a massive turnover down here. Lot of people are retiring, or moving on to better paying City PD's and County Sheriffs office as Deputies.

Some folks refer to us as skunks because of the paint scheme.

MVARS (Mobile Video Audio Recording) from WatchGuard is already being tested in Oakland and Williams. Some people at my office like them and some dont. So far they have only helped in complaints and what not. From what we have been told it isnt going anywhere and ultimately will be deployed state wide as funds allow.

I believe most offices now have MVARS installed in their p/v's. Might be a few stragglers, but the majority of offices now have it.

The cars all have MVARS installed. I personally had to install 35 so far, its a giant PITA. The hardest part is drilling the holes in the roof up by the rear view mirror, laying with your backed jammed in the laptop tray. By the end of the 10th or so, me, a motor, and our radar officer could have them installed in 30 mins. Ill get some pictures if there's interest.

The newest cars aren't even compatible with MVARS, which makes me :hitwall:.
