Thanks~!

I wouldn't worry about it! I don't think he'll catch any problems. I think I sent my hubby one his first week of the academy. Just know that it takes them awhile to get their mail. I am sure it will make his day when he does receive it :)

Oh no you did it now. He is gonna have to do double secret PT...
No really, it should be okay. If my memory serves me correctly, they don't assign Cadets mail duty until around the end of the week, so he won't get it until someone goes to pick it up from the mail room.

Don't worry about it. One of the Officers from our family orientation (CTC II-08) specifically said that the Cadets will not get in trouble for mail coming in, unless of course it contains contraband (ie: food, drinks, etc.).
I send my husband a letter everyday with jokes, random facts, etc. He really enjoys getting them and says that it helps a lot to get mail. We also have a few family members and friends that often send him notes of encouragement.
I would suggest, however, that you make sure your family/friends know that he is not allowed food/drinks, for if they decide to send your Cadet a care package.

Thank you! I did inform family and friends to not send anything but letters. I appreciate the wisdom from others here!! Extra PT for him means extra laundry on the weekends and we don't want that!

I have been blessed that he never makes me mad! He is a very wonderful man...Though I did think about sending the staff office some fresh baked cookies (now that I have all this extra time, we have cookies and brownies up the wa zoo! If they hang around too long I will have extra PT to do!). I appreciate what the staff offices does, I know when they yell at our cadets it is with the intent to make sure our men are safe out there when they graduate, when people out there yell at our officers, they have a very different agenda .....I know it is hard on them now, but I am glad they are preparing them to make sure we get to be very old people together! Our Cadets ROCK!!!!

Yes they do. The staff offie is amazing. The staff officers that I met at the orientation were really nice even though they have to be stern. They mean well and they will make our cadets amazing for the future.

I wholeheartedly hold the staff officers in high esteem. They know what our cadets will face as officers and are doing what they need to do in order to prepare them. Although I know it must be tough to be a cadet going through all of it, they will leave that academy being trained by the finest! I am often asked, "Aren't you worried that your husband is going into law enforcement?", and my response is, "What is the value in worrying?" I know my husband is getting the best training and that he will be equipped to know what to do when situations arise. My faith in God also helps!!! I'm not naive to the fact that unfortunate circumstances arise...my uncle is a retired officer...., but I do know that I will be proud to be a part of the CHP family. To me, it is a noble job! Yes, our cadets do ROCK!!!!!

hahahah true true
Ask your Cadet on Saturday if he feels the same way. :lol:You mean the Staff aren't all kind and loving??
On the other hand, I have seen the positive side of the staff. One of "my" cadets had an issue and the staff was extremely helpful and caring, far from the hardline portrayed. Also, I will never forget the staff assisting the Cadet in CTC III-07 whose family lost so much in a robbery just before Christmas, and the staff office pulled everything together to make sure the family's Christmas wasn't ruined.

That's what I mean about being nice and kind. They can when they need to be.

Hi all~ I am new to this site..and to the whole academy. My fiance just started CTC III-08. I was just wondering what you can and can't send them. After reading, I see you can't send food...but what about anything else? Are giftcards ok?

Just don't mail any packages. Cards and letters are great and gift cards, pictures or drawings from kids inside are perfectly fine.
