PLACEMENT after Graduation

Hello everyone, I just have one question, my husband told me he will be placed in our area once graduated but not sure if he was trying to be nice...hmmm
Does anyone know if they will be placed around our hometown, kids school as he was told, After graduation ? Sorry new at this...how does this work?

There are so many variables it would be hard to say. They will be placed based on the needs of the CHP. That said, a large number of new cadets are sent to LA area. Cadets are placed based on their last four of the SSN (higher number like 9999 gets choice, 0001 is last pick...) However, there are "hardship" placements, ie You own your home and have school age children. But, there still has to be an opening. You can look at past "Dream Sheets" to see where placements have been in the recent past. You never know where placements will be.

Being that you live in Downey, I don't think you have much to worry about. Most of the guys get placed in LA...at least that is what we've been told.

No crystal balls around to tell you for sure but I can tell you that Santa Fe Springs usually gets a lot of new officers from the academy and you can't get any closer to Downey.

You may want to search for "assignment" as there is a lot of information out there. If you do not own a home or have school-aged children, it all comes to the SSN. Lately about 1/3 of the class has been going to Northern California with the rest going to SoCal and the desert.
