Hi
I am stumpy from Southern div as Far as I know I am the first 1 legged Motor Carrier Specialist, Although I have met a one legged Officer who is closer to full duty that I am, and I met a retired Capt that had lost both legs below the knee and he returned to duty. These Guys are my heroes as well as another Officer who beat cancer, who's words inspire me daily. Thanks Art whereever you are now.
Get your buddies in Southern on board here!

Leave it to a dispatcher to get things started.....I'd really like to see other non-uniformed here- so spread the word. I'll introduce myself and tell you a little about me, then maybe others will do the same. I started my career in Santa Ana in 1990 and loved it. I really enjoy dispatching. Working with the officers and the public. Heck, I even like callbox calls. After about 5 years I transferred to Ventura and had a gorgeous apartment at the beach-well, till we had to sandbag. And this So. Cal girl does not know anything about sand bags. Went to Monterey after a couple of years in Ventura. Stayed in Monterey a while and decided to promote. Went to GGCC as supervisor, transferred back to Santa Ana/now called Orange County and hated being a supervisor. I'll try to make the rest of this short. Demoted and went back to Monterey, tried out Truckee, back to Monterey and now at Humboldt and promoted to Comm Sup in August and I'm really enjoying it. So here I am and I'm really happy to find this forum. Fun to read, and I can really relate to a lot of it!:

Just found this forum thanks to Wikipedia (I was actually looking for some news links through Google).
I've been working in Orange County Communications Center as a PSDII since August of 2006.

Newly appointed dispatcher - San Luis Obispo A14873
I applied for the CHP in May 2007. At that time I tested and applied for Central. I was not selected for the job the first time around and was placed on the 'list' to be contacted next time around. I kept regular contact with the center and things were starting to look good.
I then made a sudden decision that I did NOT want to get established in Bakersfield (no offense to anyone, just not my kinda place :noidea: :noidea:). So I contacted San Luis Obispo, I was told that they really were not planning on hiring for awhile; I decided that I was willing to wait, and so I transferred my hiring package over.
A few weeks later I received a call, started the process and now I'm 10-8 and loving every second of it! It's so nice to go from desert to coast...CHP allowed me to be able to do that!
Thanks Guys and Gals!

I had an "Adam number" but traded it in for a different kind of ID number. Welcome and good luck with the new job. The "Adam numbers" are the backbone of this department.
