What kind of wrist watch for the academy?

I go into the academy on July 21st and I need a watch. I've been getting mixed answers from people as to what kind of watch to get. Should I go with a digital watch, traditional with a second hand or a combination of the two? What type of band, black rubber, nylon or a metal band? Should I just go with a cheap $20 watch or buy a good one that will last me a long time? Any suggestions on brands to buy or stay away from?
