I did not know if there was a new thread for the families of the July class, so I wanted to start one up. My cadet made it through all the tests and got his acceptance last week. I just wanted to start a little line to all the wives, girlfriends, fiancés and families of those men and women who are about to enter into the academy. I’m sure difficult times lay ahead, but opening a life line can create a form of comfort. These forums have been a great help to me and my cadet and I only hope we can all help each other in the time when we all feel alone. Future congratulations to all, and good luck!

Make sure that you attend the orientations for CTC III-08 w/ him. I believe now that they hold one in your division & one at the academy right before the fun begins as a cadet. At your division orientation make up some index cards to exchange personnel info w/ other spouses/s.o. That way you have even closer connections to meet for coffee and the such. Can't take credit for the index cards that we got from Snowdog here on the forums. While some make it through the academy journey alone as a spouse/s.o. it is sooo much more fun to talk the new academy lingo with & know they understand. Good luck to you both & the entire incoming juniors.

Thanks so much! I will do that. We will defiantly be at orientation when it comes time. The beginning date fast approaches and I find myself more and more anxious, even though I am not the one attending the academy. Although, considering the line of work I should get used to being anxious. LOL.

My husband is currently in the Academy, CTC II-08, and his suggestion to all is to run as much as you can before the Academy. The PT is very intense, so the better shape you are in the better. They have so much work to get done, that struggling with PT will only add to their incredible stress. Your BI should have given the future cadets a brevity code card with all of the 10 and 11 codes. Study them now because they will be asked them within the first week or so. Also, make sure you tie up any loose ends now, before the Academy. When they come home on the weekends, they need to rest, study, and do assignments. There is very little time for anything else. Also, expect Sundays to be difficult days for them. My husband has to gear himself back up for the difficult week ahead. I offer him words of encouragement and just listen. Also, expect phone calls in the evenings to be short and sweet. They have so much to do and are often exhausted, so understand that a 5 or 10 minute call may be all they can do. Good luck to you all and let your cadet know that they CAN DO IT, just take it day by day.

Hello all...I am from Southern Cali and my husband received his invitation last Wednesday for the July academy. So here we go...This has been his dream and for the past two years I have been praying for this day to come. I look forward to meeting as many of you as I can at the orientation on the 20th. I also look forward to being a support to him and anyone else who needs it, as well as looking for support from those of you going through the same things. See you soon!

Hi all,

We are starting on Monday YIKES!!! By we I mean uh hem HIM....We are hoping he is as prepared as can be. If you are on myspace there is a CHPWIVES group there as well. I am glad this is here to support us so we can be there for them, if that makes sense.

I am anxious for him as well, but try not to show it....Remember to send them with their 2 support photos!

Looking forward to meeting you!

I am in Sacramento if any of you are local and would like to get together for coffee during the acadmey or if any are visiting and would like to have faces with names, PM me!

Thanks, rspimentel, for all of those insightful words! I just copied and pasted it to my hubby.

With approximately 240 cadets at orientation on Sunday (if indeed we are all going at the same time), I can't imagine how many people in total will be there! We are bringing our 15-month old son, and I'm sure other cadets will be bringing even more family members. Hopefully some of us can make a connection so we can chat throughout the coming months.

I just became apart of the CHP community today. Yesterday was orientation and it was really informative but it was still sad. I am lucky that we both live in Sac but it's still hard. Thank you for opening up this blog and letting us all talk. We all need to stick together and help our men(and women) through these rough 27 weeks. Good luck to everyone!
