Wow. Your process went really fast. That's really encouraging. Anyways, please post up how your ride along went.

I agree. Very fast.
But hopefully you don't have to arrest anyone.

Each shift has its own quirks, and it really depends on the area, and the beat you're working.
I'm really surprised you've gone this far in the process without going on a ride-along...

My BG Investigator said i was the first file he picked up and also they (CHP) are trying to get more people in quickly, so they have a new way of doing the background and having you make your physical and cvsa as well as getting paperwork he needs at the same time. so by the time he is done with his background you should be waiting for the psychologist to call you and set up an appointment. then your all done!

You will have a blast no matter which watch you get. Enjoy!
I had a 'c' watch a few weeks ago.

It really doesn't matter what Watch you have, just make sure you use this time to get to know about the CHP and ask whatever questions you may have. I officers I had my ride-along with were awesome, they pretty much answered all my questions that I had. Remember, they all were once in our shoes, so feel free to ask questions.

I went on my ride along. i had "A" watch. My officer was really informative. he explained everything he was doing to me. pretty typical day, a few speeding tickets and late registrations. i would like to go on a "C" watch before the academy.

I would not hold my breath. Ride alongs are only approved for A and B watch. Graveyards are always partner units and a ride-along does not count as a partner.

I did my ride along begining of the year (remember I am the guy that first got into the CHP process in late December, missed one PAT failed another but passes 06-14-08)
My ride along was fun, we did some tinted windows, speeding, then had a runner. The officer yells do you see him I spot the car and the office hops out gun drawn. The guy was heading to a door that was not his; but was going to pretend I guess. We got him and arrest with impound. The officer showed me the computer he had ten arrests in two years, a warrant for failure to appear, and owed 35K in fines.
That was fun!

Glad you guys were able to make the arrest without being injured.
Just goes to show you, there is no 'typical' traffic stop.

I have been on 5 ride alongs. Shifts in this order... B, B, C, C, A. And I am still waiting to meet my BI.

I've been on 6 ride-a-longs at 5 different locations, and none of them allowed C watch ride-alongs... Trust me.. I tried.
You must be in an area that allows it, because almost no one in LA does.
The first 5 ride-alongs we didn't arrest anyone, but on the 6th, we got 2... both DUIs, and were middle of the day on a sunday
