Family Forum Poll

I'm interested in your feedback in deciding what do to.

In answering the question I am looking for a straight answer with no consideration for me and/or logistics. (i.e. "It would be too much work for dw," or "he already has enough on his plate.") I'm working on the assumption that a "family forum" will exist in at least one venue regardless.

I read all the discussion leading up to this and glanced at the "new forum."

I can understand the desire for confidentiality among the family members and it would be nice if they didn't feel the need to go elsewhere to find it--but the reality is, they do and they are.

In that a system is already here under a very able administrator and team of moderators, I feel it makes sense to yield and make the family forum (here) private. Well-intentioned as they may have been, I suspect the founder of the new forum is unaware of many of the pratfalls and dangers for which there are already protections--borne of experience by dw--here.

I'd favor allowing them their wish. And you've proven incredibly fair in your administering, so they should have no fears--my one caveat being that you continue to keep an eye over it as a moderator (they can have moderators also).

i think one of the "problems" is that there's only an APPLICANT family forum and not just a plain ol' family forum? if you felt so inclined to take any of this on, maybe a separate family section with subfolders? maybe subfolders for applicants, cadets, and beyond?

i feel most comfortable having a forum here, mostly because the board is already established and proven, which makes me feel a bit secure. i also like the idea of "pros" keeping a watchful eye.

I would like to see it say "Family Forum" and not Cadet
Family forum. I think it would be helpful to have it like the Chippies Only section, private. Adding an additional female moderator - for that section only-might be a good idea. Maybe one of the ladies that posts. I can think of a couple that might be good at it. I agree with the other two posts.
