I read the reason police believe the passenger was the driver is because although both air bags deployed only the drivers side bag had blood on it and the passenger side didn't even though the passenger suffered a large laceration to his lip. How is it people come out of wrecks like this with only a cut lip? Oh yeah, that's a six figure car sitting in pieces on the highway and only about 300 were built.

He's in deep ****. The black SLR he was racing is one of his cars as well, most likely being driven by his g/f.

Basically two street legal race rars. The Enzo broke apart exactly like it was designed too.

I want to know how the hell someone loses control of a damn FERRARI at only 120? That guy had ti suck at driving

I read speeds may have been closer to 200mph. I think the Enzo slid something like 1,000ft after it's first point of impact with the power poll. Maybe X-MAIT can give us one of those mathematical answers about speed vs. distance.

200 is more like it. But it's still an Enzo. You should be able to keep control of a car like that.

I've got a feeling at that speed even running over those small "botts dots" stuck on the painted lanes could cause some control problems. Of course then again Jonnie Walker behind the wheel could have had something to do with it was well;)

From what I have heard from reading about this on an Enzo fourm, the guy probablly became airborn when going over a hill. There was a picture that showed the reck taking place right after the down slope of a hill on PCH. Apparently, those cars, or any car with those aeordynamics, would become airborne if going fast enough. On the same forum, people were saying that the driver was more than likely going between 170-200 mph.

KCAL Channel 9 in Los Angeles originally reported the car "Was estimated to be traveling 200 mph". A later broadcast and their website said "The car was capable of going 200 mph" Whichever, any jackass that would treat a million dollar car like that must have been UI on something or just plain stupid...

He probably got his info from FerrariChat.com - - No one over there knows what they're talking about, but it's still entertaining to read their posts.

Someone from the CHP said yesterday the reason the driver lost control was due to evidence the car bottomed out two times before hitting the pole.

There was a bit about it on the news last night, and they said the minimum speed had been determined to be 162 mph. I don't know if MAIT did the workup or an Area AI guy, but that's movin'!

I've driven on that section of the coast highway many times and it always seemed to be a rather flat road but at such speed I guess it doesn't take much of a rise or drop in the roadway to make a vehicle that only sits about six inches off the ground to begin with to bottom out. I've also heard on the news this guy has already spent some time behind bars and now they think he's involved in some type of counterfeit ring. Never fails, the bad guys always find a way to draw attention to themselves.

Here's a video of his black Enzo being driven around Beverly Hills:

http://videos.streetfire.net/video/4A3AC693-F887-4741-B839-F13C61981261.htm

Both his Enzos and the SLR are Euro Spec automobiles, meaning they're non street-legal in the US. I can't believe he was able to drive them around town almost daily with those yellow UK license plates on without being pulled over.
